クイズ対策もばっちり勉強したし宿題のエッセイも書いたし、万全の体制で学校へ。
例によって１時間早く到着した車の中でテキストを読み返す。

そしてCorporate and Instructional Mediaのクイズ。
今日は絶対聞き逃すまいとじっくり説明を聞いていると「制限時間は15分」とのこと。
ってことは先週もちゃんと言ったのかな？

問題用紙が配られた後は集中してひたすら書き飛ばす。
テクニカルターム以外は難しい単語も複雑な構文も使わない幼稚な文章だが書かないよりはまし。
制限時間内にほぼ回答欄を全て埋めることが出来た。
点数はどうあれ、自分では自分に70点あげていい。

後半はMicrosoft Powerpointを使ったプレゼンテーションの実習。
どうやらWord、Excel、PowerpointのMicrosoft３点セットはビジネスシーンで必須のようだ。
１時間15分の授業はあっという間に終了。

次のComputer Fundamentals for Multimediaの授業は先週に引き続きAdobe PageMillを使って童話をインタラクティブに構成する実習。
教授も一応教室に来ることは来るのだが、質問が出たときに答えるくらいであとはそれぞれのチームが自由に実習を進める。
これがいわゆる「ラボ」ってやつだ。

僕が前もってPageMillでたたき台を作っておいたので僕とJoeのチームは順調に作業を進める。
全体の構成とリンクを張るアイデアは僕が担当し、物語の文章を作り替えなければならなくなった時にはJoeに任せるという見事な（？）チームワーク。
僕がチョチョチョイとリンクを張ってしまうと「おい、今どうやったんだ？」と聞いて一生懸命メモを取るJoeはけっこういい奴だ。

今日の宿題はファイナルプロジェクトに何を作るか１ページでまとめてこいというもの。
教授の説明が半分くらい聞き取れなかったのでJoeに確認する。
それでも消化不良の部分は残ったのだが、何とかなるだろう。

English 090はLos Angeles Timesの記事の解説。
日曜の夜に教授から届いたメールはこんな感じだった。

Subject: Sunday L.A. Times assignment

Hi Class - I’m sorry I was not able to get this into email until late Sunday night.
Will you please reply when you get it, so I can see who is correctly hooked up and who is not?

There are many articles about President Clinton, of course.
I am not assigning any, because I think you will read those that interest you, and you will hear a lot about this situation from other sources if you don’t choose to read about it.

It was easy to find some other interesting reading.
On page A1, read “A Long Road Back From Reading Crisis.”
It deals with children’s needs to be strong readers, but I think it has something to say to all of us about the importance of reading.

If you have the Valley Edition, read “Running the Risk” on p. B1 (The Valley section). It talks about jogging, a major California pasttime.

Then, for all of you pet lovers, and those who know pet lovers, read “Their Pet Cause” in Life & Style, p. E1.

As you read these articles, think to yourselves if there might be any way that you could use any of this information to respond to the WPE question about making decisions, or to the question about prejudice.
How could you apply any of this?

この３つの記事を説明して授業は終了。
木曜までにまた好きな記事を読んでそれについての感想を書いてくるようにという宿題が出た。
今週は間違えないでやっていかなければ。
